Remote access for Tally and office apps — habits that stay safe

· KC Cloud

CA firms, distributors, and factory offices need books and apps from home, a second branch, or a laptop on the road. Remote access is normal in 2026 — insecure shortcuts are optional. A few habits keep Tally on Cloud and related tools usable without turning one office PC into an open door.

Prefer a managed path over “anydesk on the accountant PC”

Consumer remote-desktop tools on a single office machine create shared passwords, forgotten sessions, and no clear audit of who logged in. Cloud-hosted Tally or a controlled remote desktop on a server gives named users, renewals, and a support desk that can reset access without visiting the shop floor.

One identity per person

Do not share one login across the GST team. When someone leaves, disable their user the same day. Pair this with business mail on your domain so password resets land in a mailbox you control — see business email and Google Workspace notes.

Network basics that actually matter

Strong unique passwords (or SSO where you have it), no public RDP on the open internet without a plan, and a habit of checking status before blaming “the VPN.” If access fails after a DNS or firewall change, say so in the ticket — remote access issues are often configuration, not “cloud down.”

Backup still applies when everyone works remote

Remote does not replace restore drills. Keep the backup habit for company data and know who can restore if a machine or session is compromised.
