How to use a live status page for Tally and servers

· KC Cloud

When something “feels slow,” teams often open ten chat threads before anyone checks a status page. A clear public dashboard cuts confusion — if you know how to read it.

Overall health first

Start at the top: all systems OK vs degraded vs outage. That banner is the shared language between support and customers. If overall is green and only one minor probe is amber, your own app issue may be local (VPN, router, browser, credentials).

Tiles tell the story

Each monitor tile shows a service group (for example entry gateway, application endpoint, or critical host). Tap a tile for last check time, response latency, and day / longer uptime. Brief red flicker that recovers after confirmations is not the same as a multi-hour outage — engines often require consecutive fails before declaring down.

Latency is not always outage

Higher response milliseconds during backup windows or peak login hours can look dramatic on a chart without meaning the service is offline. Outages are when connectivity fails repeatedly; latency is when the service is reachable but slower. Use both, but treat confirmed down as the interrupt that needs tickets and status posts.

Maintenance banners are intentional

Scheduled work — firmware, disk, network change — should appear as a maintenance notice. That is communication, not failure. Plan heavy bookkeeping around those windows when possible.

When to open a support ticket

  • Your service is red on status and still red after a refresh and a few minutes
  • Status is green for related monitors but your access still fails (account-specific)
  • You need confirmation of planned work or impact before a fiscal deadline

Attach time-of-day, which product you use, and a short symptom. That turns “it is down” into something support can act on immediately.
